L&T’s Biggest Win: The ₹15,000 Cr JSW Steel Mega-Deal

Larsen & Toubro’s Minerals & Metals division has secured its largest-ever domestic metals contract from JSW Steel.

Classified as a “mega order” and valued between ₹10,000 crore and ₹15,000 crore, the project involves comprehensive engineering, procurement, and installation of key process facilities to support JSW Steel’s expansion plans. The initiative is aimed at increasing the company’s crude steel production capacity from 35 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to over 50 MTPA by 2031.

Under the contract, L&T will undertake both greenfield and brownfield expansion works at JSW Steel’s facilities in Ballari, Karnataka, and Paradip, Odisha. The scope includes the installation of blast furnaces, steel melt shops, and related process infrastructure critical for large-scale steel manufacturing.

The order further strengthens L&T’s presence in the heavy engineering and industrial infrastructure sector, particularly within the metals industry. It also reflects continued investment momentum in India’s steel sector, supported by rising infrastructure demand and long-term industrial growth initiatives.
